About the Event

Want to learn a beautiful creative skill that can also be used daily? Modern calligraphy is perfect for you! ✍

My workshops are a great way to learn this relaxing and creative skill. The Beginner's workshop gives you the understanding of the basics so that you can succeed in creating eye catching calligraphy and towards the end of the session we'll create some greeting cards for you to give to friends or family.

Some reasons to learn calligraphy:

  • Relaxing and a great way to switch off from technology
  • You can create handmade cards, gifts and home decor
  • Become part of a lovely community that loves this art form
  • It's satisfying to see how much your calligraphy improves with practice
  • You can use it daily, making everyday notes look prettier

In this workshop you'll be learning:

  • The differences between calligraphy and cursive
  • How to hold your brush pen
  • How to create the basic calligraphy strokes
  • How to connect the letters
  • How to put these together to form the alphabet in a calligraphic style
  • Doodles to decorate white space
  • Some greeting card designs

You will be provided with a brush pen, some blank greetings cards and a workbook that you'll work with during the event.

Refreshments and food are not included but can be ordered separately at the venue (New Dawn Inn in Gloucester). The kitchen is open before and after the workshop if you want to grab dinner there.
